The Future of the Sanctuary

The Ras Al Khor Sanctuary has great plans for the future. A state-of-the-art Visitor's Centre will shortly be launched. The Centre will be complete with a reception and interpretation lounge, wildlife showcase that displays the unique features of the Sanctuary, mangrove boardwalk, live CCTV observation, merchandise and souvenir store, multimedia library and laboratory facilities, administration office and a cafeteria. On completion, this technologically advanced Centre will easily allow visitors to access information and get a closer understanding of the Biological diversity of the Sanctuary. The interpretative services will be a boost to the education, recreation and awareness of the protected area experience. It could also become the Centre for Communication Education and Public Awareness (CEPA) of the Ramsar Convention.
